Why the Wii?

Year 3 are very lucky to have a Nintendo wii in our classroom. We are using this form of technology for our learning. The game we are using is called ‘Wild Earth African Safari’. We get to go on a Safari adventure, searching for animals, trees and plants, waterfalls, insects, footprints, different landmarks, camping equipment and food. We get given an assignment which requires us to take photographs of different things. We play the game with our partner two times a week. We write a summary of our adventure and add new discoveries to our word wall and our Blog.

We are now up to doing some research on a chosen African Animal. We are using an inquiry learning approach with our research. We will post some of our findings on the animals page!!

  1. Today I played a game on the wii called Big Brain Academy. It was really fun and the teacher was quite funny!
First I had a test and my rank was a grade of C. When I repeated the test another 2 times after doing some practice questions, my rank was C+!! The weight of my brain was 305 g!
I think that this game is good for learning because it trains your brain to be quick and accurate with lots of random questions. Some of them test your addition, visualisation and memory.
